Geneva Motor Show 2017: All the weird and wonderful cars

Supercars and self-driving concepts often make the headlines of the Geneva Motor Show, but amongst the multitude of new vehicles on view some are imaginative and downright peculiar.

Last year saw the public debut of the Morgan three-wheeler EV, a vehicle that blends a modern powertrain with a design that's over half a century old. It also saw the unveiling of the Citroen E-Mehari, which resembles a cross between the company's Cactus SUV and a beach buggy.

Here are the all the weird and wonderful cars at this year's show:

Tata Tamo Racemo

Tata, the Indian car giant that owns the Jaguar Land Rover group, has announced plans to produce a small sports car called the Tamo Racemo.

Car magazine says that the Racemo is built on a modular platform, which allows for numerous car types to be constructed under one chassis. It will be powered by a 1.2-litre three-cylinder engine. The engine can produce 188bhp, which is sent to the rear axle through a six-speed automatic paddle-shift gearbox.

The car even features "over-the-air updates" using Microsoft's cloud, adds the magazine, as well as remote monitoring and "predictive maintenance".

Ruf CTR

Fans of the Porsche tuning firm Ruf did a double take when a bright yellow 911-based CTR was unveiled.

It's almost identical to the iconic CTR Yellow Bird of the 1980s, only Ruf has made a few styling tweaks to smooth the lines around the front bumper and fitted LED tail lights at the rear.

Evo claims that the new CTR has been built from the ground up, using a carbon fibre monocoque chassis that's bonded to a stainless steel structure. Even the Porsche 964-shaped body panels are made from carbon fibre, resulting in a kerb weight of just 2,646lbs.

There's no word on whether the CTR will reach production or how much it will cost, but it's expected that Ruf will commission one for the right price.

Eadon Green Black Cuillin

While many cars debut autonomous technologies with smartphone integration, Eadon Green's Black Cuillin takes a more historic approach to concept cars.

Autocar claims that the Alfa Romeo 8C 2900-inspired concept is powered by a 6.0-litre naturally aspirated V12 engine with a 7,000rpm redline and a "top speed approaching 170mph".

The British start-up car maker has yet to reveal whether the Black Cuillin will make production, although it's expected the company will produce one for those who are interested.

Pininfarina Fittipaldi EF7

Pininfarina, the legendary Italian design house, and double F1 champion Emerson Fittipaldi have collaborated to produce a 600bhp supercar.

Called the EF7, Autocar says that the supercar will feature a "brand new" 4.8-litre naturally aspirated V8 engine that's paired to a six-speed manual gearbox. The engine and gearbox will be "bolted directly to the carbon tub" to lower the car's centre of gravity and weight.

The car will be built by the German racing company HWA and be limited to just 25 units, says the magazine.
