Spurs transfer news: Talks underway over Dani Alves deal
17 May
Spurs have initiated talks with Juventus defender Dani Alves as they seek to bolster their squad with proven trophy hunters for next season, reports Yahoo.
The veteran Juventus defender, who is 34, has a glittering CV with six La Liga titles and three Champions League wins. Alves has also won the Italian title this season and could add another European crown when Juve face Real Madrid in Cardiff later this month.

"The proposed move signals a significant departure from the Premier League club's long standing policy of recruiting younger footballers on relatively inexpensive salaries, but would serve to rebalance a squad that has come up short in the pursuit of consecutive English titles," says Yahoo Sports.
But could Alves find himself replacing Kyle Walker in the Spurs team? The London Evening Standard says that Chelsea are the latest side to enter the race to sign the England defender, who is valued at £40m.
"Walker has held talks with manager Mauricio Pochettino about his future and knows he could at least double his £70,000-a-week salary by joining one of England's wealthiest clubs," says the paper.
There's more worrying news with reports that Tottenham target Wilfried Zaha has opened contract talks with his current club, Crystal Palace.
Spurs held talks with the player in January but the move did not materialise, says Sky Sports. Meanwhile, Zaha has become a "key player" for Palace under Sam Allardyce.
The 24-year-old signed a five-and-a-half year contract with the south London club when he rejoined from Man United in January 2015. He could now be set to extend that deal.
Spurs transfer news: Dele Alli could be lured to Real Madrid
15 May
Having seen their hopes of landing the Premier League title officially ended by Chelsea on Friday evening, might Tottenham soon see their chances of hanging onto Dele Alli disappear?
The nightmare scenario is revealed in the Daily Mirror, which says that the 21-year-old star is refusing to commit his future to the club amid interest from Real Madrid interest.
Speculation has been increasing for a while that the England midfielder is considering his options despite the fact he only arrived at White Hart Lane from the MK Dons in 2015. He's flourished under Mauricio Pochettino, winning back-to-back PFA Young Player of the Year awards, but his rise has attracted interest from the Champions League finalists and the Mirror reports Alli's comments when asked to commit himself to the Lane. "The way football is, anything can happen at any time," he said. "I will enjoy my time here now; who knows what will happen in the future."
Meanwhile the Daily Express says that Manchester United are "lining up a triple raid on Tottenham" with defenders Eric Dier, Kyle Walker and Danny Rose all likely to be carried off in the summer swoop.
The United defence, along with their attack, has not been up to scratch all season and apparently Jose Mourinho used Sunday's match against Spurs to put out feelers to the trio. The Express says that the Special One is "willing to increase their wages to over £100,000 a week to lure them to Old Trafford", and in characteristic fashion he is confident they will succumb to his overtures.
Spurs transfer news: Man Utd make £40m move for Eric Dier
10 May
Tottenham's title credentials have been tested and found wanting in recent days and now, says the Daily Mirror, Manchester United are going to "test their resolve" with a big-money bid for defensive midfielder Eric Dier.
The paper says that the 23-year-old ace is in Jose Mourinho's sights and the Special One "believes a £40m bid would prise the versatile England international away from White Hart Lane".
Dier moved to Spurs from Sporting Lisbon in August 2014 in a £4m deal and last year he signed a five-year £50,000-a-week deal with the north London outfit. No matter. Mourinho thinks that he can lure Dier to Old Trafford with the offer of £70,000 a week and the Mirror says that Daniel Levy will have to decide whether he is prepared to lose a playmaker of Dier's class or whether to give him a pay increase in line with what United are offering.
With Manchester City reportedly "keen" on Kyle Walker and Danny Rose, Levy may have to put his principles to one side and start paying bigger bucks or risk losing his top players to the north-west of England.
Spurs transfer news: Pochettino hints at Kyle Walker exit
5 May
Spurs gaffer Mauricio Pochettino has admitted he's not in control of Kyle Walker's destiny, reports Goal.com, as suitors beat a path to Tottenham's door.
Rumours have been growing in recent months that the unsettled defender could be lured from White Hart Lane in the summer by Manchester City with Pep Guardiola known to be on the lookout for back four reinforcements.
According to Goal.com the England blocker is seeking to bump up his reputed £70,000-a-week wages, and the fact that Pochettino has preferred to play Kieran Trippier ahead of Walker at right-back in recent weeks suggests that the manager is preparing for life after the England defender.
Manchester City are reportedly ready to table a £35m bid for Walker and when asked about the future of the defender, the Spurs manager said: "We will decide which players will leave and which stay and who we sign."
However, he made it clear that the decision was not down to him alone: "It's not Mauricio Pochettino Football Club. That is very important to clarify… it is always the club's decision."
The Daily Express believes that Pochettino's words are an indication that Spurs are ready to entertain offers for Walker, but the paper says Manchester United are ready to rival any bid from their neighbours with Jose Mourinho keen to sign the defender as he looks to overhaul his defence in the summer.
Spurs transfer talk: Eriksen agent offers 'no comment' on Barcelona
4 May
Martin Schoots, the agent of Christian Eriksen, has used an interview with Danish newspaper BT to address rumours linking the Spurs midfielder with Barcelona - but has done little to clear the muddied waters.
In recent weeks stories have been emanating in both Spain and England suggesting that the 25-year-old playmaker was ready to leave White Hart Lane in the summer to try his luck in the Camp Nou.
When it was put to Schoots, the agent hardly gave what could be described as a curt dismissal to the gossip, choosing instead to witter on about focusing on the rest of the season.
"I prefer not to comment on what the newspapers write about the future," said Schoots. "The only thing Christian wants to do is focus on playing his matches… Christian just wants to be important for the team, it is the only thing that matters to him."
Eriksen signed a new contract at White Hart Lane earlier this season, one that reportedly has him taking home £75,000 a week but Spanish reports claim Barcelona are ready to offer him far more, and Schoots's comments are unlikely to allay the fears of Tottenham fans that the dynamic Dane could be lured to Spain in the summer.
Talking of luring, The Sun says that Spurs are on the tail of Bournemouth marksman Josh King who has been on fire this calendar year, scoring more Premier League goals than everyone bar Harry Kane and Romelu Lukaku.
The Norwegian has netted 12 times in 2017, finally showing the sort of form that he displayed as a youngster on the books of Manchester United. The 25-year-old has suffered a couple of lean spells in recent years but he's in fine form for the Cherries and the Sun says King would come with a price tag of around £15m.
