She was previously a contributing writer and assistant editor at Honeysuckle Magazine, where she covered racial politics and the cannabis industry. Theara is also a former high school teacher. She earned a bachelor's in English literature from Howard University in 2013 and a master's in the same from New York University in 2022.
A lifelong book lover, Theara is based in New York, where she spends her spare time reading and playing video games.
